I love that you can hear the guitar slides in paddington frisk at the end, hearing that gives such a raw grit to that ending

Take To The Skies without a doubt, but also The Mindsweep is up there. Those to me feel like what Enter Shikari has always been about all tied up in a neat package. I do think this little EP might be their most focused effort, I like tacking on Slipshod at the front too

this is their most focused by far
mindsweep has some dreadul production imo, really could be improved by a remaster
take to the skies has aged dreadfully, production is awful and rous vocals are awful. as ive said a million times, the demos/the zone stuff sounds so much better. even their live performances sound a million times better
common dreads actually holds up pretty well in my opinion and is a great improvement over take to the skies, especially regarding the scope of the electronic music. ttts is literally just trancey synths. common dreads draws from much more. But lyrically is has some real stinkers, as does flash flood.

flash flood is a highlight imo, maybe their least adventurous but pretty consistent
mindsweep has some great songwriting and electronics, just awful production
the spark is just overly hated, has some real lovely tunes but i wouldnt consider it a favourite
nothing is true bangs overall, really love that album and is deffo one of their best
a kiss for the whole world is just a phoned in dud with too little going on,

flash flood is the only one i've heard in full surprisingly. that ones great. gotta jam more from these guys.

oh yeh for sure. this is a very short ep worth checking
i can fully understand not liking all their stuff and really disliking some of it. but i feel like theyve always been a band willing to put themselves out there and try something a bit weird even if it does often come off as cringy and kitsch

I think TTTS has aged in a charming way, could it be better? Absolutely lol, with their modern prod and a not sick Rou that album would be absolutely insane lol. Common Dreads rules, I agree that it expanded way further on the synth driven music that they wanted to make. Flash Flood rules, I used to think it was their worst LP but now I def don't think so. Mindsweep feels like a true sequel to TTTS and I really love it, don't mind the prod at all really. The Spark had to grow on me, but I like their take on that style. Nothing is True is very beautiful, I love that album so much. Kiss is mostly fine and it has grown on me a bit but still a pretty disappointing release

i lean most towards debut/nothing is true/spark but i feel like depending on what type of music fan you are you could honestly come up with a good argument for any of their lps being their peak except kiss. really cool and rewarding discog in that regard
also this ep absolutely fuckin bangs. title track is maybe a top 10 shikari song for me

Yeah I don’t get the mindsweep production critique - sounds more or less fine to me and has bangers. If anything Flash Flood has the production issues that impact it more.
Rou has admittedly had horrible screaming technique for like his entire career but idk I think it sounds good lmao ttts is like perfect campy electrocore and I’ll rip it up to Mothership anytime
