SA's first two albums are doom metal but there were lots of power metal elements, that's why most of the songs from those albums were quite fast.
Candlemass started using power metal elements in their late years (Candlemass, King Of Grey Islands, Death Magic Doom) but SA's last two albums were doomier than anything done by Candlemass.

Candlemass had some up tempo songs at the beginning too, but those songs weren't as fast as the songs from nowadays.

True, there's a bit more tempo and power in SA.

"SA has their own style, they are definitely not like Candlemass."
I humbly beg to differ. SA does sound like the swedes (at least in my ears), but that doesn't mean they are a clone band.

During their heyday, Solitude Aeturnus had infinitely better musicians than Candlemass.
On every instrument, vocals included.
Candlemass ended up being unbearably boring in the end, while SA quit(?) while they were ahead.
Downfall which is SA at their most off beat/experimental, is way more interesting than Candlemass’ ‘90s albums.

Hmm
I'd say the early output of both bands is on the same level. Both rule m/

^^Solitude Aeturnus kept it together until the end, even though they were undeservingly underground.

You didn't even like Candlemass s/t?

I think that first two Candlemass albums with Lowe are fantastic.

Solitude Aeturnus' first three albums are the best. After that they kind of lost a bit of quality.

The first four Candlemass albums are amazing, period.

Well, can't argue with that

I don't know why, but I've never been able to get into Candlemass. Not even when Lowe was their singer.

Back-to-back jams are Epicus Doomicus Metallicus and Tales of Creation. I love Nightfall just the same, but for some reason, I haven’t listened to it as much.
I like all their reunion albums, but as I said, they went through the motions towards the end.
For me at least, whole SA discog is a back-to-back jam.

Yes
'I like all their reunion albums, but as I said, they went through the motions towards the end'.
I wasn't big on their last two, but the other reunion albums are solid.

I really like Candlemass' new album, some fantastic moments on that one
