haha. People need to relax and by doing so start listening to some indie then the world would be a much better place. For the most part I was just joking around except for when I say her music sucks and the music it self is quite mindless. I am quite open minded and being dense is a good thing....well its better than being mindless because that would emply the exact opposite of being dense. So dense is good. When I say I am open minded it means my mind is open to the fact that most popular music like this is just plain shit.

And the reason why people are stupid is because they listen to pop music is proboly because they listen to pop music? Most of it just makes good background music, you really don't have much to listen to. Head phones or stereo, doesnt matter. Most of the great bands are best on headphones or loud volume speaker which creates such an atmosphere that on an album you get the minds of all the musicians put into one entity that is essentially one mind. And not just their minds in the sense of what they are playing, but who they are as a person and what they stand for. When you overload the music with vocals on a higher volume like most pop music you kind of really drown the minds of the muscians. Even if the musicians are professionals like what you say is in pop then that does'nt retract from the fact that they play by rules and they limit themselves in what they do. Musical theory is limitation. Fuck limitation and you trash what we call "popular" music.

Whenever I hear songs for those purposes that are not pop, you are referring to shitty underground bands more along the lines of "Alternative" or "Nu-metal" which is not in anyway technicly close "true" indie. True underground bands DO NOT get played on TV, radio, ETC. Would'nt playing them in ads, tv shows, and radio kind of defy the fact that they are underground?

Fact of the matter is that pretencious pop music with no substance just is not exciting or heart felt.....no pure form of raw passion and just over laden with filters. Just like celebrity faces on magazines, etc that have been run through with photoshop to make them "look better" and they just end up looking fake just like pop music sounds fake.

You know alot of rock bands are not fake because 1) the vocals don't sound perfect live 2) they could put out 20 full lengths and still live in 2000 Sqr ft house with 3 bedrooms and two cars that cost less than $30,000 a piece. Yet their visionary music and depth of emotions and artistic vision by far outweigh most who may be huge millionaires.

Even though I dont listen to much of pop music, or rap. I'm not going to say that its not music, all because its not my musical taste. I'm obviously not the demographic of the music being supplied. Polka and contempory jazz is still music, even though much of it dont have vocals. Me tapping my feet to a rythem and slightly knocking on a table is still music. So its completly reduntant to say that Britney isnt muisc.

not really, indie bands are often picked ironically due to the fact that they're obscurity, and yet at the same time catchiness, makes them perfect for getting the attention of consumers. you can hear Death Can on television shows, Deltron 3030 on car ads. Obscure and local bands play local jingles and radio ads constantly. However, indie-hipsters often refuse to acknowledge this because it is the inevitable co-option of the underground into the mainstream that has been consistent throughout 20th century Western cultre (ie. what is "underground" will always become the next platform for what is "mainstream"
