Did they play 'She' ?
btw , I see four average ratings..wtf?
|
| |
No She or Wherever You Are but I guess they didn't have Chris Maitland on drums so it wouldn't have been as good
|
| |
Is this better than anything else they've put out yet?
|
| |
I'm still in love with Sol29 but you'll probably find this to be their best. A Sense of Loss is darn good though
|
| |
I like both sol29 and their second album, I just never loved them. I think I'll definitely give this a shot anyway

I was also at the gig last night and they were better live than on record, but still a very ordinary band imho. I think most of the crowd were pretty underwhelmed too tbh.
Mad. I wouldn't really say any of their songs are "bad", per se, they're just all REALLY, REALLY average. It would be acceptable on a first album but not this far into their career. Call it a day.
|
| |
Really? I thought there was a pretty big applause for them. The most 'underwhelming' moment was when Amplifier played Paris In the Spring, which was a waste of 8 minutes
|
| |
Also I can't remotely see how Paralysed is an "average" song...
|
| |
You guys were at the Kscope London gig right? Me and my mate were going to go but had work at the last minute gah

God damn that looks amazing. Lucky I'm still seeing Amplifier at ArcTanGent in a month though
|
| |
You better have your fingers crossed they play Interstellar and Forever & More then ;)

Yeah I don't understand why Amplifier played Paris in the Spring either.
And yes, I do think Paralysed is an "average" song, at best. It's boring, unimaginative and the lyrics are like the sort of poetry I wrote when I was 15.

You feel nothing during the section when he sings in Italian, or even the final 'explosion of emotion' with his haunting wails?

Is that what they are? I thought it was a cat with a furball problem.
In short, no. I find this to be some of the least emotive music I've ever heard in my life.

'least emotive music I've ever heard in my life. '
hard... but ok , it's your opinion.

I disagree but I respect your opinion. We can't feel the same thing. For example, I have tha same
feeling with yours about Anathema's Whbwh. I just can't feel emotions. But the emotions of this one
grow so fast inside my heart. For me 'afterthoughts' is the greatest moment of 2013 if we talk about
emotions.

I'm obviously being unncessarily harsh but I really do struggle with this band. It all feels like an exercise in trying really hard to create emotional music, which never works. Emotions come naturally.
To be fair though I do find myself struggling to find much emotive about a lot of this sort of stuff nowadays. Maybe it's me.

To me, the way the album flows and just moves along like it does, makes it feel way more natural than a lot of albums in my opinion.
