Eh you pretty much spend the whole review name-dropping and using common genre terms like "filthy" "down-tuned" "sludg-y" "buzz-saw" and by the end of it I don't think I'd have any idea what it sounds like compared to, say, Funebrarum or Denouncement Pyre. I also know jack shit about writing reviews and I'd imagine an album like this would be pretty difficult to describe like a diamond in the rough, so grain of salt and all of that. I pos'd though.

what words would you use to describe this album?

I'm not sure, but I'd probably touch on the fact that unlike everybody aping Incantation, Cerekloth doesn't have the cavernous atmosphere, and the songs are instead given room to breathe. Although like I said I don't know shit about writing reviews so I'm not sure how I'd express exactly what I mean with that.

Like you know how most osdm has the buzzsaw riff, but Cerekloth kinda has that much more...open sound? It comes off as a lot more organic than most bands in the scene. Does that make any sense?

only swedish-styled death metal has that primarily (because of bands like entombed and dismember)

Well by that I mean old-school revival, which while not all of it has that sound, a lot of it does.

that's because there are a lot of newer bans with old school swedish influences (or are just copying it altogether)

I need to hear the new Ataraxie for sure. And yeah, Zealotry and Nails both rule so get on them. Even though Nails is a lot more hardcore than dm there's an influence there for sure.

Yeah do that. They have a nice Demilich/Demigod feel to them. Great stuff.

man this rules, and it's interesting that people are making a point out of the dissonance, I'm noticing quite a bit of harmony on this for death/doom

there are quite a few major chord progressions on this, moreso than lots of other dm.
