I'm really not liking this much anymore, they could have made a very good pop album I think while not sacrificing what made them unique. It's fun and catchy, but there is not much Relient K-ness to it. And yeah, I'm very disappointed with the lyrics. I hope this brings them the commercial success that FANSD didn't, but hopefully they will switch back to what made them successful in the first place.
btw, the bonus track with Owl City is terrible.

There were people all over facebook talking about how crappy it is, when really, it is probably at least on par with their first two albums. I quite like it actually. It's a nice album. Nothing spectacular, but far from offensive or bad.

Completely agree with that. I've heard a lot of people nitpicking this album possibly to the max and try and find really stupid excuses for their distaste for it. I mean if you don't like the album then that's fine but constantly nitpicking it to death means that your arguments are invalid. I mean I do believe that this isn't their best album, I'm sure tons of people agree with that but I still think it's pretty good. In certain aspects, better than "MmmHmm." (I'm going to get sooooooo much hate just for saying that)

I try to enjoy for what it is and just have fun with it but I can't get through it without wanting to go back to one of their better albums.

Some of these songs are very good, but it's a huge step down in ambition. The lyrics have nothing to them, which is depressing because it seems like all of my most reliable 'meaningful bands' have been missing the mark lately.
Anyhow, this is clearly just the band trying to gain some exposure. A couple songs might have a chance to do that for them but I'm almost certain that none of them will really catch on the way they envisioned.
Album's approximately a 2.5, maybe a 3 if I learn to adapt to the vapid lyrical requirements of today's music scene.

Yeah agreed with what you're saying SS, I'm pretty sure when I get around to reviewing this it's going to be a rather negative 2.5, maybe a 3. The songs are pleasant to listen to but I can't say much beyond that
