no friggin way. music has the right was upbeat, beautiful, catchy, oft times very ominous-sounding, and was filled with layers upon layers upon layers. geogaddi was very beat-oriented and extremely varied (1969, dawn chorus, and julia sounds absolutely nothing alike), and then campfire headphase was them dabbling more in atmosphere. this is like 90% atmosphere, and it all sounds so bloody similar. i have heard this four times now and i think i'm done, i honestly don't hear what you're all hearing; this is insanely boring music

I wouldn't put this up with Geo, Beautiful Place or Music Has The Right for a second, but I don't think it's fair to call this album boring. It's still incredibly well put together.

Great review! Just had my first full listen through and you echoed my sentiments exactly.
It seems to me that the intention was to not have all tracks jump out - for it to lull you along. My city just had a major flood - and this album serves as a great vehicle to reflect on the destruction.

Well, it was obvious they'd be treading new waters. It just happens that they went in the direction that I hoped they would

Idk how an album with tracks like Jacquard Causeway, Cold Earth, Sick Times, Split Your Infinities, Nothing is Real, and Come to Dust can blow, but to each his own obviously lol
