theres psychedelic influences with the way he writes, his song content is about drugs albeit not in a generally psychedelic way and his constant voice layering as well (alothough I didnt understand isnt from this album its a good example)

Everything Reminds Me of Her/I Better Be Quiet Now. Not so much the music itself, but the way he sings to it.

yeah this
he did write a lot about drugs (mostly heroin and alcohol, and obv amphetamines in st. ides heaven) but more focus on their impact on his life, not so much the actual highs
also none of those are really 'psychedelic' drugs
idk his song structures on this are pretty poppy, not so much verse/chorus/verse/chorus but very centred on hooks
also there's nothing really 'psych' about the mixing or whatever it's all pretty polished and straightforward...
idk this post is getting too long and I don't even know where I'm going with it so

" srs question which part(s) of this would you call psychedelic?"
I would say "Happiness" is pretty psychedelic. The feel of this album kind of reminds me of Sgt.
Peppers a bit. And we all know that was a very psychedelic album.

The only reason it seems psychedelic in anyway is because Elliott Smith is hugely influenced by The Beatles. He utilizes parts of their psych-pop era in some of his brighter more poppy songs like Happiness and Wouldn't Momma Be Proud. Only in his later work especially since the songs are alot more layered with multiple guitar tracks, piano, and organ that add a sort psychedelic type of depth to the songs.
