I think Adrian is bitter about Sputnik right now after he wrote a beautiful, well-written review for Laura Stevenson's new album and then the thread was The Worst Thing Ever. Threads on this site can get really frustrating (which is why I don't post much really - have discussions on facebook mostly). I'm sure he recognizes how he's coming off. It's no big deal really, chill dudez.

yeah Gyro I should have responded to your post on the first page, I agree with what you're saying. These days, my favourite reviews are not ones that simply describe the album and why it is/isn't "good", but ones that have a central point that it wishes to argue, and it does that via examination of one album in particular that helps speak to this point. It's much like a research paper in that regard, I guess I just like that style of writing. These are the only reviews I read all the way through these days. Most other ones I read the first and last paragraphs, and if something jumps out as interesting or creative, I will read the rest. But I don't think people should be reacting against the personal slant taken here, or misinterpret the intellectualism within this review as pretension.

I'm not heated, man. Haha, I was attempting to get you to chill! But in the midst of your "people always assume that long comments = bitterness" mindset, you assumed I was responding bitterly =/
All I'm saying is that yeah, Sputnik can be a frustrating place. Hasn't it always been this way, though?

@ Rev - I was gonna say absolutepunk.net but I thought that you might have been reading this thread and wanted to give you a subtle, underhanded shout out.
now that I have your attention:
love the latest bansheebeat song, more than anything since the debut EP (which I think you know how much I loved)

aids: yea i'm with you on that. i only read reviews regularly from maybe 6-8 people on here. i like
original takes like this, they keep it interesting and spur on some much needed discussion about more
than just the music.
edit: well, sometimes they do; often they bring out all the idiots on sputnik and the threads go to
shit after a few pages

omaha - no, I just meant "chill" like "don't think I'm actually being serious and inflammatory when I tell Lakes that he is the worst"
I know you're calm, the opposite of heated, like always. So it goes.

@ Gyro, completely with you. I just don't like reading reviews that don't give me anything to think about. I like being challenged, I like thinking.

You Can Count On Me is so good. Too bad the pre LP version was better than the finalized product. Alsatian Darn is the fucking pb and jam, too.

And awwwww thanks dude! That means a lot. I'm hoping the album won't completely suck! haha

Amazing review, sums up how I feel about a lot of my favourite music... loving aspects of it that would generally be deemed bad, but totally work and make sense within the album's context. That's why I love the cheesiness and self-referential nature of KMFDM, or the messy and cluttered nature of Centipede Hz, or even the muddiness and monotony of this here album.
Also lol @ "Bear with me" sweet pun 10/10
