I'm really indifferent about this album.
It possess all the things that I should like but nothing is grabbing me and nothing is standing out.

Great review for a great album. Thanks to the HMV clerk who recommended them to me. This album is worthy of the classic Opeth albums (everything from My Arms Your Hearse until Deliverance), and I really, really dig it !

no you're right the tones of the instruments used are mildly different to a discerning progressive death metal head

Great review. Looks like I might have to reassess my 2013 list! I'm enjoying what I'm hearing here.

Couldn't get into this either. Album starts strong but then it starts to really drag. Very hard to finish.

I just cannot comprehend how people can be turned off by the harsh, yet decipherable and quite

powerful vocals in Anciients but have a complete hard on for the irritating, godawful, indecipherable

dying cat shrieks in a band like Deafheaven. It completely blows my mind. I guess I'm not hip enough

for that post-metal bullshit.

Nothing wrong with the deafheaven vocals.

But these vocals give me a hard on, god damn band this album rules.

For a first attempt to create an innovative album, it is really well done!
