there's so much electronic music floating on teh internet. and there's no exact vocal recognition for who's the artist, so what silent said makes sense

they make artwork when they release LPs, but it would be pointless and redundant to create unique artwork for every single release (which is usually just one song and a remix, or a couple of songs)

the frustrating thing is just a general thing really: people cling to the immediate talking points like artwork, track names, etc. in lieu of actually reading the review or getting into the music. even when there isn't some fun artwork to talk about, people still resort to "hey look squares and circles." and it's only frustrating because it happens all the time. if it was the first time I'd seen a comment like that, I would have been nice about it. but as it was approximately the twelfth time this week that that comment has been the "icebreaker" in a dubstep thread, I face-palm'd and cunted-out, naturally.

I just wish that people still read reviews/listened to music instead of just coming up with the quickest comment they could think of for a +1

well i can see why it annoys people, myself included. i said it before but no artwork just makes the music look cheap and i might not take it as seriously. these guys are whipping out multiple releases a year, even if they're small EPs or singles, so it just cheapens each release to me. i take it as they're more about the scene and playing shows or whatever than putting out a great album. again i dont know the economics of it all but thats prob the perception people get and why we make the comments.

"makes the music look cheap" makes no fucking sense to me. how? why should a set of songs need some visual aid attached to it to validate it as a piece of music? shouldn't we be more concerned with, uh, you know, the actual music?

yeah it's a super simple concept and I'm struggling to understand why so many people are perplexed by it....

a lot of this sort of shit doesn't come with artwork, moving on then...

potsy haha I wasn't saying "you need to read the review to be allowed to comment"

you at least jammed the song and we had a little chat about it. I just get so stoked whenever someone ACTUALLY checks out the stuff I review, which would not have been the case a few years ago. Nobody cares about discovering new music anymore, they just want to shit-post and win sputnik madness (......)

next year

(fuck you Hanson)

(that was a dig at me, not you potsy haha)

aids many people get drawn into albums just because of the artwork, so to say its not very important is naive. an album's artwork can be as iconic as its music. yes the music ultimately is all that matters but the artwork is part of the whole package.

i know this shit is all about dancin but yea

to say that it is important because some people are shallow enough to think that it matters is naive

this isn't dark side of the moon, it's a dubstep single, and the music speaks for itself. I'm not saying it wouldn't move more units with a fun picture of a dragon or something, but that's not the point. They are not bothered with artwork in this scene, no one is (producers, DJs, fans, no one gives a shit). It's so dumb to even spend time talking about it.

it's how the electronic music scene in the UK has always operated, this is not a new thing
