Review is pretty good considering how short it is. Don't like the metalcore generalizations though, obviously, because I like metalcore a lot, hence my 4.0 for this.
Album does sound a lot like so many others, but to be honest, this is one of my favorite chugging albums ever, I guess because chugging blows in my opinion, and when this album isn't chugging, I think its great. The vocals are miles above an average metalcore album as well. Plus there's a few good riffs as well.

Pretty good album nothing special like you said but I'm kinda a sucker for this kind of music. Also btw t&n and solid state is going indie so maybe they will sign better bands now.

Also skin & bones, the pure clean track, is great. Not all metalcore bands do that these days. Not by a long shot. Almost none, in fact. Pretty much only the very good ones who can pull it off. And I actually feel that's more of a post-hardcore trend, but those mostly blow. Only other metalcore band to do it that comes to mind is Oh, Sleeper.

Okay, but I was referring to "why even bother listening to new metalcore records?" It seems like as you say, you only like the "select elite within the genre" which is not a crime, but it makes you fairly biased. That makes this album which you admit has "surprisingly powerful harsh vocals" and some decent riffs a 2.0, while someone who is indifferent to the genre would probably give it a 3.0 or 3.5. Its definitely generic but not that generic. Most metalcore bands do not have that pure clean vocal track, and destruction and lioness have no cleans at all. one track is an intro track, so that's 4 of 10 that clearly don't follow that generic structure you were claiming. And the vocals are clearly stronger than most metalcore releases, so there's no reason it should be any less than a 3.0 unless you don't like the genre which means you shouldn't be reviewing it. But I probably am seeming a lot more vehement than I actually am about this. Just trying to explain my initial neg which I fixed.

MegaJake is right though. This is by no means a special album, but for what it is, generic metalcore, it is fairly good. The vocals in this, harsh and cleans, are absolutely fantastic. And like you said, some interesting riffs, like in Bitter End for example. The ballad was also great. You are purely rating this band based off of the genre it is in. Which by definition is biased. But, this is your opinion and you are entitled to it.

No. this is ridiculous guys. I don't hate metalcore. I don't. I didn't just see that this was a metalcore record and then decided to give it a low rating. Some of my favorite artists would be in this genre. i'm not rating it poorly because it's in a genre. I'm rating it poorly because, but your own description, it's GENERIC. There were two semi-interesting riffs on ten tracks. that doesn't make it great.
