"from their Meshuggah-slaying debut Void"
uhh they only meshuggah like in a couple songs

that's why I didn't call it a Meshuggah-copying debut. Void has the layered polyrhythms and syncopated guitar chords, notably in Gleamer and Iceblocks, with similar vocals (Dunable even did vocals for New Millennium Cyanide Christ on Meshuggah's last tour), but you're right that much of it differs.

This is looking like a 4 or 4.5. Regardless, I really enjoyed this upon first listen. Doesn't beat Prehistoricisms though.

Yeah, from only listening to Prehistoricisms twice it's pretty awesome...but I just remembered that the vocalist covered New Millenium Cyanide Christ with Meshuggah at the NY show I saw and it seemed very off and not in a cool Meshuggah way. I like him much more in his own band.

Kidman has a very unique and charasmatic voice. Dunable sings out of necessity and he does a fine job
(far better than, say, Mastodon's "oh shit someone's gotta sing, write something brutal on a napkin
before the show and burp the alphabet!" early singing attempts) but you can't replace Jens.

Yup, agree with everything you said pedro

changed to 4.5 until there's really some perspective on this album...personally I give it a 5 though. curse you, objectivity.

you're right...gotta stand up for what I believe in.

Maybe this needs more time to sink in or something. It's good, ngl. Very good. But idk about a 5. The bass tone isn't as
defined as Valley but it is a shitty stream quality.
