i can say with complete impartiality this album is not a 3.5

im gonna listen one more time. I dont know if it was really the style or the songs that made me like it so much on first listen. What I do know is that it's not as good as Leave Home, but it's definitely better than Open Your Heart. Immaculada I havent heard in a while ill have to spin it again

i can say with complete impartiality this album is not a 3.5 you can argue it and validate that position using facts but it's still just like, you know, your opinion, man.
immaculada and leave home are pretty similar apart from production/mix.

nice review
I got this queued up, planning on jamming it later tonight. I kind of think that I will, but I'm hoping I don't agree with this review. Leave Home was the shit, Open Your Heart less so. I still need to check out the first one I guess (judging from this thread).

I still like this, for the record, just not as much as the first two.

yeah this is an alright record, but it's not really the sort of thing I'm after when I listen to this band. They're going to gain a lot of fans by taking this route, but the whole noise-rock aesthetic is pretty much completely gone, so I'm guessing they will alienate almost all of their old fans.
|
| |
i'm guessing they already did alienate most of them with open your heart, but this one really cements their direction.
alach i was hoping the lebowski reference would hint that i wasn't taking you completely seriously, because really why would i

on the second listen I'm kind of warming up to it. The album seems to pick up steam towards the end. I didn't find much to enjoy about the first few tracks but the last handful are really great. Torn between a 3 and a 3.5 for this initially.

i liked the louder tracks okay but seriously the dude just can't sing.

yeah the vocals are pretty irritating for the most part

which is disappointing considering how well they were used on leave home

Good review man.
I really like this album. I think they got wat they wanted out of the noise rock stylings on the first two records and didn't felt the need to repeat themselves. Now they're just moving on, I guess. It may be more calculated, but preferring actual songwriting over improvised abrasive noise isn't really a downside in my book, although I like both approaches.
I love how the album plays out, especially on the vinyl I'll soon acquire: you have the A side with the country twang and then the B side with the jams.

yeah see i'm digging side B but not so much side A

wasnt going to check this out but all these mixed opinions have me curious
i dont remember which of their albums i heard but it was alright in the moment and non-existent in memory
|

was probly open your heart^ hehe
alach i was hoping the lebowski reference would hint that i wasn't taking you completely seriously
was even jokin there dude!! opinions arent even real. if you like this album more than the early stuff you need to get outta here, go n order a green tea latte at starbucks

i didnt like this as much on second listen. I really like the folk elements their fooling around with but too many songs were run of the mill
|
| |
i always see the men at record stores and then am momentarily excited until i realize it's just open yr heart. i need to just buy their first two.
