> LilLioness: I honestly have yet to find a black or sludge or doom album that hasn't bored me at some point.

Bundling black metal with sludge and doom metal is simply wrong. Black metal averages between 140 to 200 bpm, sludge metal between 40 to 80, and doom metal... well, the basement's the limit.

It's sensible that sludge and doom metal might lull you into a false sense of boredom. But black metal, the purveyor of double-bass blast beats everywhere? That's not simply nonsensical. That's farcical. I call shenanigans.

If even a single blast beat of Ulver's "Bergtatt", Dissection's "Storm of the Light's Bane", or Emperor's "Anthems to the Welkin at Dusk" or "In the Nightside Eclipse" bores you, I'd question your allegiance to the maleficent Gods of metal. And whether you still had a pulse.

I can understand someone listening to 20 minute atmospheric black metal songs and getting bored.

Stuff like Weakling and Fell Voices require a lot of attention devoted simply to listening in order

for them to be satisfying. A lot of the droning "hypnotic" sections that bands of that sort often

employ can also definitely become boring to someone who doesn't already love the style.

Some things to note here, Skele.

A: "alright but not particularly good" does not reflect the 4 you gave it in your review

B: your review wasn't very good
