What metalcore have you heard? I find that it's usually an issue of being on the wrong side of the genre.

Atreyu, Attack Attack, Bring Me The Horizon... Abandon All Ships and I Set Friends On Fire if those even count... other bands I can't remember the names of right now but sound either generic with tons of breakdowns or girly with tasteless hip-hop thrown in.

I honestly don't understand the "core" genres beyond hardcore punk mixed with metal, and more recently pop-punk mixed with heavy rock- the latter which I hear more of and associate with metalcore.

Yea man that's not the stuff you want to listen to (although I'll admit that Bring Me the Horizon has some stuff I really like).

This list has a lot of the best stuff in the genre

Some standout classics would be Botch, Converge, Coalesce, Deadguy, Knut, Rorschach, Kiss It Goodbye, Cave In, The Dillinger Escape Plan

Sure thing. Metalcore is one of my favorite genres when it's done right.

Switched out the link for a new one with mp3s in 320. Also has pictures with the lyrics and the album cover.

Nice review man, I can't wait to check this out. It seems to hit all the benchmarks of a quality metal core album.

Just be careful posting download links. I got banned last year for posting a link to a new ABR song, after the original link on the news article stopped working.

Yea thanks for that, I didn't really think about it since the album is so obscure. It's actually not hard to find a CD copy but finding a download is impossible.

This album brought the nostalgia hard on first listen. It has that distinct mid 2000's raw production and chaotic dissonance that fans of the genre will really appreciate, and sounds like a blend between Botch and older Misery Signals.

Weird, I've never thought of Misery Signals at all when listening to this haha.

His vocal delivery just reminded me "Of Malice and The Magnum Heart". Also some of the more melodic sections and production just made me think that. These guys are definitely heavier though.

I get you, this is just way more dense and introspective than anything Misery Signals has done, and the jazzy clean guitar passages on some of the tracks are pretty far removed from them as well. I would also like to mention the lack of breakdowns in the traditional sense, though these guys love palm-muting. It definitely works though, lots of cool noisy parts that make them sound like some kind of machine-human hybrid

Overall I think this is a pretty unique album, haven't really heard a band that dabbles in all of these elements in the same way they do. Definitely one of my favorite metalcore albums.
