One word. Epic. The solos, the riffs, the voice are all just mindblowing. But one think I think is severly lackind recognition is the drums. Janne Kusmin. This man has clearly mastered the double pedal and plays it like a f$%ckin keyboard. Listen to Defeat and notice how brilliantly he integrates the bass pedal with the chugging in the riff.
Thats just my two cents.

I dont know if anyone has noticed this but if you listen to the opening riff of "Heroes to Us" from Kalmah's last CD Swampsong, it is the EXACT same opening riff as "With Terminal Intensity", except written in a different key.... lol its strange but awesome. Love this CD btw.

I'll try and remember that for future listening, but at the moment I can't get enough of this.
"Time Takes Us All" and "Defeat" are currently my favorites.

Kalmah's riffs > CoB's
CoB's solos > Kalamh's
I like CoB a lot more, however. This Message Edited On 01.04.07

Yea, after I listened to the rest that this band has to offer...this is by far their worst. Which isn't a bad thing, but I dropped my rating because of that.

This album is good, but it's not anything Wintersun or Bodom don't do better.

I have a very picky taste when it comes to music. Which means dissing bad bands whose sole selling point is melody and catchiness, because these guys bring nothing new to the table. It just so happens that most bands of that ilk are mainstream, because most casual music listeners enjoy that kind of stuff. It's a fucking conundrum, to be sure, but I have plenty of stuff that I like.
You just kind of contradicted yourself there. You said one of the reasons you don't like this is it doesn't bring anything new to the table and then said you listen mostly to mainstream music. Most mainstream music is generic and unoriginal, or in other words "doesn't bring anything new to the table". But whatever, just because music doesn't offer anything new doesn't make it bad. That's just my take on it, though.
