It's very unrefined in ways, even for a No Wave release. It's crazy how their sound would change and morph from here. Kinda disappointed that they ultimately ended up an sort of indie rock band.

I've now streamed the album all the way through twice (note: I pre-ordered through Matador, which allows one access to the stream--I don't have a digital copy to share, so please don't ask. Sorry if that sounds harsh). Trying to figure out the essential question (is the frakkin' thing any good?) is difficult for me. I mean, do I base my opinion on past work, or consider it without any preconceptions? The latter choice would seem obvious, but really it's near impossible. The only reason I pre-ordered (on ultra deluxe--and expensive--vinyl, no less) was because this is Sonic-frakkin'-Youth here! I'll try, then, to consider both options, as much as I can, anyway.
