Oh, really? Damn, you were missing out. I got it right before they stopped selling Super Nintendo stuff new. It was the second RPG I ever played, following Super Mario RPG, which is also pretty amazing.
|
| |
lol it's cool I played most the classics as a kid just never had chrono trigger for some reason. actually never played mario rpg either.
|
| |
It's on the Virtual Console. It's fun, and a nice mix of rpg with mario elements and characters and one of the few Mario titles that doesn't have Bowser for an ending boss. Not quite as in depth as most Super Nintendo rpgs, but it's still a blast.

Chrono trigger and cross both rule
never played mario rpg :/
|
| |
Mario RPG is great, seems like a lot of people don't know about it. You guys should give it a go. It's got a fun combat system where you have timed actions to make your attacks and specials/magic stronger and it has the running, jumping platforming stuff from your typical Mario game in an over the top, 3D setting.
Chrono Cross is great too. I need to play it again, it's been so long. That game has an amazing soundtrack. Probably my favorite video game OST I've ever heard. I think Chrono Trigger is a better game, but Chrono Cross has a better soundtrack.

Is it better than paper mario cause I could never get into that?
|
| |
I like it better, but I do enjoy the Paper Mario games. Maybe try an Emulator version first of Mario RPG, just in case Atari. They have some similarities, but they are pretty different in the long run. Paper Mario is kind of like the "spiritual successor" to Mario RPG, but it wasn't done by the same studio.

is it better than this album/ CUZ LOL THIS SUX!!!!!!
|
| |
anyone ever play dark cloud for ps2
or Grandia
|
| |
@Hospital,
dude I fucking loooved dark cloud and come on man this album's not that bad ;P
|
| |
maiden < sugar ray < the wiggles
yeah dude, i think i'm going to revisit DC soon. I never got into DC2 but the first one was one of the first games for ps2 and ruled hard. I love upgrading my shit and rebuilding the town and the free-roam KH-like fighting was pretty cool.
speaking of that, KH1 and 2 rule as well.
|
| |
yeah it's been a while but i loved building the towns.
|
| |
very rewarding
|
| |
The Grandia games are awesome except for the 3rd one. It was really boring and didn't keep my interest.
I like Dark Cloud 2 more than 1. It was just bigger and all around better than the first one. Plus, the cell shaded graphics are awesome. Love that style of graphics.
The Kingdom Hearts games are also great. Who would have thought that mixing Disney and Squaresoft into an Action RPG would be a good idea?
|
| |
Grandia II was my favorite! I couldn't get into DC2, unfortunately.
Yeah, I'm still waiting out a KH3
|
| |
never heard this album...but final fantasy! my fave is 8 (it was my first FF game and first rpg) i started XIII the other day. Will probably finish it when i get more time.
|
| |
8 has my favorite hero, SQUALL LEONHART!
|
| |
Who knows if they will ever make a KH 3, lol. They keep making all these little side story ones on the hand held systems.
I didn't like 8 very much... It's the only one I don't own except for the online ones and X-2. I didn't like the level up or magic system and I also disliked how dependent you were on the GFs. I should give it another try one of these days, I haven't played it since it was released.
|
| |
i can't really speak on that bc it was my first rpg. i feel the opposite actually. i spent so much time with that game, that when i play other rpg's i wish they had 8's magic system, gf's, and so forth.
i'm not saying it makes it objectively better or anything, but you can see where i'm coming from.
obviously, i'd recommend playing it again lol
