Fucking annoyed still that this got so overlooked when Who Will Survive was kind of a "sputnik" album at one point. I can still remember Magpie getting a decent bit of attention when it came out and it's far worse than this.

Agreed. Maybe people were put off by Magpie? It's my least favorite of the bunch, then again it's still a great listen.

excellent review. This is my second favorite Murder By Death album, but only because Who Will Survive has a special place in my heart. "I Came Around" is my personal favorite on then album, then No Oath, No Spell.

Lost River > I Came Around > the rest, but everything on here is awesome.

I played Lost River around some buddies of mine that like pretty average stuff normally and they were just quiet through the latter half. After it was over they both wanted to know who it was and the song name. I NEVER get that reaction out of people when playing them good shit for the first time, it was nice.

Hard World tends to get the most listens out of me, although it might have to do with being a father and the song being a summation of some of the worst things you can imagine happening to your daughter. Add in the juxtaposition of the up beat instrumentation and the heavy subject matter and it just wins for me.

Then again a day hasn't gone by since this dropped that I haven't listened to this album at least once. It just hits the right spot for me.

Still rules. Ghost fields makes me want to burn the suburbs in my area to the ground.

That's fucking rad. I saw them play on New Years Eve a few years back. They started playing right as it hit midnight. Super fun.

I got sucker punched the last time I saw then, submitted the guy and pounded his ear and side of his face into raw.

It was the first time my wife understood why I was a hooligan as a kid and likely the last time I will ever receive positive feedback for acting like that in public.

I think I came out as the loser though, because I had my Neurosis shirt ripped.

Glad you guys like them. They are probably one of my favorite bands right now.
