Nah it ain't that bad. Esp the riffing in the second half, pretty intense. Production needed to be much better though.

Black Dahlia and Flicker are na-hice. He got help from other members on those compositions.

Yeah the second disc is great. Bonnie the Cat's pretty cool, and Flicker and Black Dahlia are like two

of the best on the CD.

People say this album makes Porcupine Tree feel all battle-worn or out of ideas or what not and tbh

that last track on the second disc feels the most weary and washed out and battle worn of all. A nice,

quiet little melody...there's probably nowhere it can go, so let's throw in some rehashed boring metul

riffzz that sound like all our other rehashed boring metul riffzz to form some lame attempt at a

climax. Nice.

Also.....

"...laughably bad line such as "your unpleasant family smashed up my car (Perfectly uncalled for) /your unpleasant family, how vile they are"

Those are like some of the best lyrics on the album from one of the best moments on the album, wtf? I actually thought it was nice to see Wilson add a dash of lightheartedness to his music and stop ranting about serial killers or rapists or child molesters or teenagers or the music industry or the usual crap he yammers on about.

I agree with the points on the bass though. Colin Edwin always used to bring the grooves (Hatesong, Strip the Soul), but you can barely hear the bass most of the time here.

Yeah production is pretty average for the electric guitars surprisingly. The drums don't sound too good, which is rare for Gavin, the hi-hats a bit too high in the mix and bass drum and snare are low.

I actually don't mind the riff on remember me lover when it first comes, but it gets boring later on.

It was a perfect strategy to make everyone not want another PT album so that they could get excited about his solo stuff.
