Do people hate these guys because they make mainstream folk or sth like that? I'm not a folk expert by any means, just curious. I enjoy quite a few songs from M&S but i've noticed there are a lot of music enthusiasts who hate this band.

I think it's the principle that people hate. I think some view them as such an average band yet most people will hail them as the kings of folk music and "much better than that Lady Gaga nonsense" when their music follows, in some people's opinions; pretty typical song structures and never deviates from the same quirks.

I think that's what it is.

Most people hate them because mainstream fans think they're the second coming of folk christ and all of their songs have annoyingly similar gimmicks/structure.

yeah it had some emotion in it which was genuine (well unless you're talking to someone with a stick

up their ass, which seems to be everyone actually) but it still sounded recycled and generic. a

little bit idk. and this one definitely feels recycled seeing as it's pretty much exactly what they

did on the first LP.

but then I love Japandroids unconditionally and they'll be putting out the same album til they stop so

whatever.

(edit oh shit didn't notice this went to three pages. i was responding to the guy with the gy!be

avatar on pg 2)

in terms of all the praise they get, it only adds to it when someone like paul simon is working with them... *sigh* ...no more?

This certainly bothers me but didn't stop me from liking their first album. Definitely gonna check this out too.

Just listened to "Hopeless Wanderer" and it was pretty cool. Though I'm a little worried that it's being called the best song on the album by my Facebook feed

I've never liked these guys. It's one of the bands that I hate just because some of my friends like them so much. They're alright, in all honesty.

@skeletor, damn they took your review down again? that's dumb the albums been released.

This is pretty good I forgot how much I enjoy mumford. Although like sigh no more, it will probably sound less exciting over time.
