It wasn't the fart jokes at all. I was just so bored listening to it. I could care less about fart jokes as long as the music is good.

Thanks everyone - even KILL - for all the positive comments. It's much appreciated. Really glad to see I haven't been set alight yet on here despite only rating this a 3 lol.
And yes KILL, I will review a Rush album sometime, I imagine. They don't get nearly as much of the amount of love they deserve down the Staff end.

Michael Jordan, anyone

3 isn't exactly a bad rating though Irving lol

Really good review, I like the album more because I feel it's Devin's way of making entertaining music now that he's finally found peace with himself, but I definitely see your points.
I can't wait for Casualties of Cool, I fucking loved Ki. He described it as "a duo with myself and Che (ki)… it sounds like haunted Johnny cash songs. late night music, completely isolated sounding and different than anything I’ve done. Che sings most of the leads, and it’s probably the truest reflection of who I am in life at this point. Trying to release it in tandem with Epicloud."

Planet of the Apes rules. Decon was pretty good, even if The Mighty Masturbator was boring.

Townsend seems to make the most sense when he’s not taking himself seriously at all, and I think he
knows it too – for it can be the only reason why, I surmise, a re-recording of an older song somehow
made it onto the album as well. The presence of “Kingdom”, originally recorded for 2000’s Physicist,
would normally be symptomatic of some seriously scattershot decision-making in terms of song selection
(think Ringo Starr’s Ringo 2012), but framed here as the gift to long-time fans that it is, the
concoction is able to go down that much more easily.
You know Devin already re-recorded Ziltoid the Omniscient's 'Supercrush' for Addicted, right?
It's not really a new thing.

The one with the exclamation point is pretty different (tempo, Anneke doing the majority of the vocals, slight change in instrumentation).
"Kingdom" sounds way better on Epicloud than on Physicist, though. Like, way way better.

That would be Hyperdrive.

I might be the only one who thinks Lucky Animals is decent and doesn't suck. It's just fun to me.

I don't even think it's the worst, it's quite enjoyable. Maybe people can't wrap their heads around Dev writing a catchy, simple song for once?
