This is still runner-up behind Monolake for best electronic album of 2012 though...

Haven't listened to this, and the Monolake album was good, but i think there were better releases too. Phon.o, Christian Loeffler, Clubroot, Recondite, John Talabot and Voices from the Lake have released great stuff this year

Yeah, this year has certainly been great for electronic music fans. I've heard all of those, except the Loeffler one, and I still think this and Monolake top it though. Although trying to compare and rank such different albums is kind of silly.

Just read the RA review, now I'm really excited! ;]

This year is officially the year that got me hooked on techno again.

Oh and regarding this album: I never was that much of a DMZ-fan, although I recognize their massive importance for the genre, but now I really recognize Mala as the genius he is.

Nice album, decent review. I kind of expected to like this as percussionist - and I've been growing rather fond of Deep Medi stuff.

Nice track, Dev.

Also: As for new electronica releases Fanu just put out a free EP. And Fanu should generally be checked out.

So I listened to a few tracks of this, and it's definitely really cool. It doesn't seem like enough my style to check out more, but it's sweet for what it is.

Listening to the 2 minute snippets on the official site, I'm intrigued. Any full streams out there?

There was one on soundcloud, but he pulled it when the album came out.

I enjoyed this album pretty much, and I'm not into dubstep at all. Does any similar stuff exist?

Not really. I would definitely say Shackleton, simply through his use of hand percussion with tablas and shit. But he's far more tribal

Other than that, Mala's other tunes, and Digital Mystikz by default as well. Early Coki stuff (as in, anything pre 'Spongebob'), Pinch's Underwater Dancehall, and some early Peverelist stuff

And while totally different in style or execution, Submotion Orchestra and Author also combine dubstep sounds with jazz stylings, if it's something like that you're looking for...

Shackleton comparison is a bit farfetched, but kind of makes sense.
