Billy talent is a great new band! I have the album and love every single song on it. It took a little while for me to get to used to their sound though, i find you either love benjamin's voice or you hate it. I find they put alot of emotion into their songs and thats what will grab most peoples attention!
p.s. Great review!
I like it too! and I love office space!
After hearing alot of talk on mx about this band, I went and listened to them at the record store. I was expecting a really good band, everyone was saying good things about them on mx. I heard the album, and I couldn't stand it, they vocals were bad, the music was to generic. The best to my knowledge there was only one song I could stand, and it was one of the last ones, I don't remember the title.
The album is to generic and becomes old very fast, if you can get past the scratching vocals the generic guitar riffs and you like alot of teen angst lyrics then you might like them. I personally can't stand them.
Exellent review though, you really went into depth. Which is needed for a music review.
say generic one more time. please.

Definetely 10/10 this band are truely awesome.
I really want them to do a tour over here in England.

Their good, but not amazing. The first song "This is How It Goes" grabbed me, but the rest of the songs took a few listens to get into. Ben can scream though.
What would you guys classify this baand as? Alot of the songs sound punk but then certain songs like river below and cut the curtains seem hard rock.
These guys aren't punk. I don't know why so many people think they are. They are pop-punk but just a bit heavier. Kind of like in the direction Sum41 is. But not completely like them. Just the same type of pop-punk as Sum41. They are very good nonetheless. This band changed my view on music in general with this release. Major props to them. :thumb:

they're like a mix of post-hardcore, and pop-punk. and i think they've done their homework with old-emo, which is nice. i think this is the poppiest band i listen to, and it shows how accessible they are, because they grab attention from both people new to rock music to seasoned rock listeners. i know ben's voice isn't for everyone, but i love ian d'sa's guitar lines mostly, and their drummer is a machine on the record

i can't believe people can't figure out that it's self-titled! no offense to those who can't or anything tho...lol. i've had this album since just after try honesty was released, and i must say that it's one of the best cd's i have. good review! billy talent has one other song out there that's not on the album, it's called Beach Balls, check it out it's interesting

This is extremely annoying garbage.

i thought that river below and living in the shadows were good songs but everything could have been played better....ohh and they could have thought of a cd title!

It's a decent record IMO, good to listen to every now and then. 3.5/5 from me

I love Billy Talent, and yes- I know many who can not stand them-- but then again they are all pop kinda music people. This is one of the best CDs I have- and their lyrics are the best I've ever heard- they really get into your head and make you think- and it made me relate them to my life. You either love the band- or can not stand them-- so i have come to learn. If you dissagree... then that's your opinion- this is mine, and so be it.

The guitarist is EXCELLENT. His stuff isn't too technically challenging, but some of the chords he plays are just so damned ... abnormal.
The vocals are fitting, but I'm not a huge fan.... the lyrics are just retarded... no offense, but they're just plain stupid.
This band is old style punk. Not 90's surge punk, which is what your blink 182's and sum41's fell out of... but an offshoot of the Sid Vicious, and the Dead Kennedy's, etc. The stylings are quite similar, though the guitar work and even the vocals are far better.

I was gonna review this one, I'd already started when I thought 'hang on, I'll check and see if it's been done' and yep..here it is. Oh well, I'd only done the first 3 songs anyway.
I think it's a great CD, I've been listening to it for a while now and I really like it. They seem to have turned out to be a 'One-Album-Wonder' which is a shame
