"But hey, who ever expected rationality from music critics anyway?"
...So let me get this straight, you're dissing music critics, in a review of an album,
something that music critics write, and you're doing all of this on a music critic
website..........
BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!

But I'm not a music critic man. I'm a casual listener giving my opinion on whatever. If you want the opinion of a music critic, go talk to Robert Christgayu or whatever his name is.
And this website isn't a music critic's website man, it's just a bunch of kids writing reviews. I mean, if y'all wanna pretend your reviews are legit...

Sputnik is actually considered a "legit" music reviewing site believe it or not. And
saying music critics aren't rational is still a pretty ignorant claim.

Who the hell considers this place legit?? LMAO now I've heard it all. Okay well, have fun with your music critics that are jizzing over fossil rock and thinking anything Varg did is legit and write really boring stuff about what they think.

Well, Staff reviewers are looked at as professionals at least. What exactly makes the
difference between a music critic that gets paid and anyone on this site wanting to
be one? You just have to be a good writer and take this seriously and it's entirely
possible if that's what you want to do. And for the record, I'd rather read a "boring"
review that at least has thought provoking points than your poorly articulated review
that reads like some teenager jotted it down in 5 minutes.

"What exactly makes the difference between a music critic that gets paid and anyone on this site

Oh man, the amount of snide remarks I can make on this one. But yeah, taking music reviews seriously
is pretty gay. It's just music, who cares. Lulz @ "though provoking points." More like intellectual
wankery that makes essays written about "homoeroticism in Conan Doyle's work" seem important by
comparison.
I'd rather spend less than 3 minutes writing a review that properly conveys what I think about the
album without any pretentious idiocy.

Yeah, write a review about what you think of the album go ahead, what it comes down to is how enjoyable it actually is to read, which shit like this isn't. Also, this whole music thing is a passion, to say "it's just music" is kinda missing the point because it's about loving doing it. And pretentious is just a word dumbass's smack on educated opinions because they feel like they take music too seriously and overcomplicate things, which they really don't.
|

Album Rating: 2.5
Educated opinions? Man listen to yourself. It's just a bunch of teens writing whatever the hell they
thought about an album they listened to. My special snowflake radar is going off if y'all think what
y'all do here is relevant or "real" let alone "educated."
Pretentious is just a word that people who have better things to do with their life use when some
random person gets it in their head that their opinion on whatever random thing they listened to is
really important and they spend their time boring everyone else with it.
Music is for having fun and relaxing. Praying 4 someone who thinks that writing for Sputnik--of all
websites--is a passion. Or that listening to something is an accomplishment.

Oh I know, but I view it the same way that I view this image:

People getting upset because I don't blow a load over old ass bands and don't hate on bands that everyone else does via actually thinking for myself are likely to be the most awkward beta people. So when y'all call me autistic for not having excessively strong opinions on music OR taking this website seriously, I just view it as if that dude were cussing me out online. Yeah, okay, whatever, let it all out if it makes you feel better.

I was mostly talking about reviewing music and writing reviews in general, not just
on sputnik. All I'm saying is that i'd rather read a review with well formed opinions
than something that reads like this, if I had to choose between the two it would be
a no brainer. And music reviews aren't as snobish as you percieve them to be.

But really, how is my review inarticulate or its opinion not well formed?
"True, none of the songs truly stand out as top-notch party jams, but that's perfectly
understandable given that they don't have any big name producer backing them up."
Seems good enough for our purposes. Yeah, I'm not going in-depth into production or anything, but do
I really need to? I'm just saying that while y'all may not agree with my opinion, it's not as if
this is a mindless review I just wrote. Not going in-depth about how this "fits into the context of
music at large" or some B.S. but let's be real, it's a crunkcore album. Who cares about hearing that
about it?? I thought I may as well provide a less biased take on BC13, nothing more, nothing less.
I just don't get why it should be a "passion" to express your opinion about something so trivial as
some demo by a band only 20 people are about. Sometimes it's best just to be real with yourself and
realize that it's just a fun little hobby, nothing more.

"Ban everyone who doesn't have excessively strong opinions about stuff!" I mean, it's not as if y'alls attitudes don't drive off normal people or anything...

"I find that one, inconsequential word you're using very offensive. It's putting my butt in pain."
lulz, y'all just get offended at everything.

I never said that it needs to be a passion to express your opinion, but looking at it
as more than just simply throwing down your opinion does help the quality of the
review, since you care more about it.
