Not a bad review, I disagree, I don't find it that bad, some of it is pretty good actually.

Probably a 3.0 or so.

Though I think you're judging this a bit harshly - as someone already said not every album has to re-invent the genre, and most bands will sound (atleast somewhat) like their influences (though I totally heard that Townsend part and just thought wow)

this was promising at first with the Autotheist tracks. after that it descended into a shitstorm of forgettable riffs and boring singing.

Your review seems to be pretty much dead on, but a 3-3.5 is more accurate in my opinion. You can
call the compositions a mish-mash of ripoffs, but they (mostly) still sound pretty good. Honestly I
didn't recognize much until I read this review. I stopped halfway into that Townsend album because
it was too awful.

Most blatant to anyone familiar with recent metal however...yeah, you're gonna hear a lot of Opeth
and BTBAM passages, and no matter how brief they are (even a second or two), they're pretty obvious.
Also, another thing I heard on first listen, some of his cleans REALLY sound like Townsend,
especially with the keyboards in the background trying to make everything sound uplifting and grand.

So yeah, they whole thing's pretty uneven and repetitive and at face-value, unoriginal. But it still
sounds amazing in parts. Little bits of brilliance make it worth listening.

Create, Deconsecrate, Eidolon Reality are the top ones here.

And the cleans Accelerated Evolution...the ones in the chorus...man. If their next album has more
melodic, inspired, emotional cleans like that, then I'm sold.

Really sounds like they wanted to progress while still pleasing their deathcore/tech-death fans. And
it doesn't work too well. Lots of great melodic, and even brutal parts are ruined by one countering
the other awkwardly in more BTBAM-praise. I'd be happy if they dropped the deathcore influences and
wrote highly technical prog metal.

It's weaker than Planetary Duality, but it still rules, not at all 1.5 worthy.
