The band was faced with the tough decision of actually having to choose between a Fish clone or something new. They opted for self-renewal.
Marillion’s songwriting changed dramatically after H arrival and Rothery’s playing had to adapt, but even with this radical change Rothery’s work remained interesting. Easter’s solo is a pretty good example.
