I find it much more easier to sit down and listen through Ashes of the Wake all the way than As the Palaces Burn. Ashes of the Wake was just a brilliant dispaly of riffage throughout the entire album, I couldn't get tired of one song. Lyrics kick ass too.

if your not a real death metal fan dont buy the cd( new american gospel) . but as the palaces burn is my fav LoG cd.
it was this cd that transformed them into a mainstream metal band.

Black Label, The Black Dahlia, Ruin, 11th Hour, Laid to Rest, Now You've Got Something to Die for, Decending, and Walk With Me in Hell is the ultimate Lamb of God song list

Strong album, but not as good as Sacrament. This band has everything going for them on a few songs, such as ruin, as the palaces burn, and 11th hour, the rest of the album was kinda just OK.

Seriously? The guitar might have been lacking a little bit on this compared to Sacrament, but Randy's Vocals shined in this album compared to Sacrament... IMO. i thought it was amazing.

well for me, the guitar and drums is what makes metal metal, if you know what i mean, and i just didn't feel it as much as their other albums. ill give it to you that it is amazing, in fact all lamb of god stuff is amazing, it just didn't do it for me like some of the other albums did.

Great review as always. I have heard a few songs off of it and expect the others to be just as great. Ruin is the perfect song to head bang to.

Sacrament makes this album look like childs play. Even though they have stripped down their sound, they have kept the good parts of these albums (thank god they got rid of the tin can snare drum) and added some more atmosphere into their music. It certainly makes it sound a lot more vicious than this.
