I mean I'm glad we have Tropical Fuck Storm but if more Drones was on the horizon that would be swell

Figure they'll probably do something again at some point, provided Fi gets through the other end of her cancer treatment alright

All The Drones folks still get on and go out for pints, mostly just split for time commitment/current life situation reasons as far as I know

Gareth might be my favorite songwriter of all time. Dude is wicked creative and has literally zero misses. I have never heard a Drones // TFS song I don’t like.

yeah, certainly wasn't immediate upon my initial exposure to him via I See Seaweed, but further exploration/acquisition of his catalogue combined with many repeat (to the point of becoming regular) listens over the years eventually saw him becoming and cementing his place as one of my all-time favorites as well

I love that you brought up I Sea Seaweed specifically because that’s probably my favorite Drones / Fuck Storm record, tho I think Fairyland Codex can give it a run for its money. I’ll let it stew a while longer before i go making grand claims like that.

Probably not any time soon, I just have a lot going on and am not particularly inspired atm, but would you be interested in doing a collab ranking of all The Drones and Tropical Fuck Storm records? And maybe Strange Tourist too, tho I’ve only listened to that one once.bI just feel like his discography is so goddamn dense that it would be tough to tackle solo, and I also don’t feel like I could do it justice on my own. Up to you fam!

And also why the fuck isn’t there a review for Fairyland Codex yet? Should I just copy/paste the Fantano one lol

well it's cool of you to propose/suggest such an idea - I guess there's only a limited (and I suppose also dwindling) number of folks around here that are thoroughly versed in his works

part of me would argue that on account of the personal nature of rankings, it'd be better to keep it a solo endeavor, and it's also just not something I'm huge on myself (if you notice, I haven't got a single ranking list on here myself (but hey, first time for everything, right!?)), I guess not entirely just because I don't care that much for them but maybe partially due to the fact that I do kind of struggle with it, especially once I really fall in love with an artist and their entire discog and everything starts to have high ratings... I often feel like works are on par with one another and it's not atypical for me to refrain from saying "such and such is better" or "such and such is best" once an artist reaches that status for me

but that's not to say I'm like entirely opposed to the idea or shutting it down or not open to it.... but yeah if you ever wanna nerd out about them or shoot the shit or discuss the idea further maybe we can get together on the good ol' Discord or something some time I'm always on there
