top comment on one of their songs on youtube:

"Always use your Metal-Counter when listening to music.

0:00 Safe amounts of Metal detected. Proceed.

0:30 Above average but safe amounts of Metal detected.

1:15 Large amounts of Metal detected. Proceed with caution.

2:51 Dangerous amounts of Metal detected! Extreme caution!

3:20 METAL OVERLOAD! EVACUATE THE AREA! TOO MUCH METAL!"

I miss Sky Eats Airplane. Yeah the lyrics were cheesy at times, and some people hate the 2nd vocalist (Roush). But ignoring that, the music itself was pretty badass (not counting the EP tacked on at the end of their run).

Some of this album is interesting but not SEA level of interesting, plus a lot of the guitarwork here is pretty masturbatory. Also, a lot of people don't know how insanely good the drumming is on the 2nd SEA album. It's really top notch stuff. On the other hand the drumming here is technically fine but isn't too inventive or special.

This is Travis Orbin (not the drummer who played and wrote the SEA 2nd album songs originally (Kenny Schick), but he replaced him down the line for a little while, I think he was with Periphery for a bit as well..), he does some pretty faithful drum covers/interpretations of a few of these songs, displaying how creative some of the stuff is (and how much of a badass he himself is).

Some of this album is interesting but not SEA level of interesting [2]

Agreed, this is below sea level. Well sort of, the only good Sky Eats Airplane song was Numbers. If I want deep cuts I turn to good metalcore like Botch, bands like this are only good if it's catchy.

There are parts of Royal Thousand that I do enjoy, like Roush's clean vocals, but I don't see this being worth a 4.
