Haha yep, I'm soulless - but this album has me on drip, so all is well

I'll have to listen to this one again in full, I find their newer albums to be rather inconsistent in that the highs (e.g. Untouchable, Internal Landscapes) are so good they struggle to maintain that quality over whole albums

Agree 100% (esp with those picks) - WYBWH just about keeps it up, but WS and Distant Satellites suffer from this big time. Maybe the Optimist gets around it too, idk
|
| |
Yeah WS was the most glaring one for me (those tracks are just TOO good) but I remember getting a similar feeling from WHBWH and Optimist. Might be time to dive back in for a discog refresh!

Lol yes do it, what could go wrong ;] Also, isn't it time for a new one vaguely soon?
|

They've been pretty consistent since the reunion so hopefully yh, though I know they've been quite busy touring recently (well, not RECENTLY recently heh)

I didn't care much about stuff after we're here, the untouchables were good though.
[honestly my least favourite here] ugh yes so good

Although you can see how this must have been an important song for them
Forgotten Hopes is the best

I remember an old interview with Aaron Stainthorpe of My Dying Bride, around 1999, stating "we are just normal guys, we drink beers making jokes all the time and stuff, we are not those depressive guys many think we are". Listening to Judgement, you just cannot believe those guys were making jokes at the time or feeling good... This anger and misery and frustration are popping up, they are almost liquid to touch.

And those Gilmouresque solos... Idk, it feels like they were exchanging floyds at the time instead of fluids lol

Hahaha I can imagine MDB getting pissed and having a laugh after sessions for some Dreadful Hours tracks tbh - definitely not the case for these

You should, pretty consistent band.

Light at the end is amazing, probably their best. LDK can be easily the weakest of their mid-period, Songs of Darkness is better, although I came to appreciate LDK a lot as well

definitely, this is super miserable

I'm guessing he's referring to 'Alternative 4' but I could be wrong

I'll be very disappointed if so, partially bc consensus, partially because that's bottom 2 or 3 Anathema
