The best of the four Disintegration Loop "albums" imo.
d|p 4 captures the physical decay most accurately, and d|p 5 gives the best juxtaposition of that slow descent into obsolesce with its sheer beauty (only other segment that's as gorgeous is d|p 1).

6 was always my favorite. cowboy at dusk
still sorta think this is a conman's work though. actually like basinski very generally speaking too

you're probably not wrong, but if that's the case then i sure do like being swindled.
goddamnit anyway

I don't jam this as nearly often as I should, I always seem to stick to I-II over III-IV
|
| |
last time i listened to all the loops was about two years ago while watching a bunch of Stan Brakhage movies, because i wanted background noise (despite potentially "sullying" the "purity" of the art and all that, i literally cannot stand to sit through truly silent, non-scored films) and it ended up being pretty damn cathartic.

that sounds like something I ought to try

it's an exquisite pairing, if nothing else. though general aversion to both basinski's compositions or brakhage's experimental shorts isn't exactly uncommon.

| |
the last 5 or so minutes of dlp 4 are really something else
|
| |
most accurate simulacrum of what this series is supposed to Represent
