This album is technical and songwriting genius, but although I have its greatness in the back of my mind I can't seem to enjoy the album that much. It's almost a little overambitious, and I'm all for experimentation (mr bungle and co.)

I liked the review but I wholeheartedly disagree with the attacks on metal. Like others are saying, you're listening to the wrong material. There may be truckloads of repetitive garbage in metal, but unlike pop punk who as far as I know have never been able to branch out, metal has created some of the most complex and technically demanding pieces of music in the past 50 years.

Metal to me has always seemed over done, badly produced and incredibly repetitive (but not in a good way)

Yes, I did say to me.

I did say it was my opinion.

You guys need to quit dwelling on a little thing in the review.

I've listened to plently of metal in my time. I don't criticize things before I listen to them, I've heard plently of metal bands in my time. People are constantly trying to get me into it. But, it's all very similar. I mean sure there are tons of genres, death, doom, black, power, grind, etc. but in those genres most of the bands sound like one overall great band that they are all trying to copy. (Cryptopsy in Death Metal for example). I only see this kind of pointlessness in metal and pop-punk. Anyways, negging my review because of an opinion is retarded. It's a good review, and you guys are just being asses because I hurt your little feelings.

Well I can see you guys have no way of backing up your argument besides saying I'm an idiot and what I say is bullshit.

So oh well.

Actually, I agree.

I don't see a whole lot of bands branching out really. A ton of bands just try to copy one incredible band, and what comes out is a clone of that band, with minor differences.

...If that made sense.

Yes, that was what I was implying.

The only genre I see it more so in is pop-punk.

I like how so many people have negged this review just because of the metal comment and not because of the commentary anywhere else on the album.

My friend has this, and made me listen to it. He worships this. I, on the other hand, can't stand it.

^^^ Its a difficult album, it takes a while to sink in.

Man oh man, this is good. Can anyone hook me up with Choirs Of The Eye and some Maudlin Of The Well?

I've been binging on Kayo Dot the past couple days. I don't know if I like this album better or Choirs of the Eye, but both are extremely worthy of hearty praise. They're pretty much the ideal band for my tastes right now.

I can't believe I missed the opportunity to see them live before a bunch of their members left. :upset: This Message Edited On 12.09.06

It's also nice to see a lot of people repping this on the best album thing. I doubt it'll get to be Top 10, but still. This is legit.

This album is amazing.

I know people say that about alot of stuff, but seriously, this album, to me, is so original, and so emotional, it's insane.
