Fun album, lyrically weak I would say, but a fun album with some cool songs.

Frusciante kicks ***, no denying, but IMO Navarro's work on this album was the best guitar I've ever heard. Don't be saying, 'Ooh what about Hendrix blah Vai blah Wylde etc'
The guitar on this album is perfect, balanced, loud, technically amazing, complicated but simple when it needs to be, layered. Divine Simply. Navarro isn't the worlds best guitarrist and I wud argue that Frusc is better all round but Navarro's work here is supreme, better than anything Frusciante has or maybe even will do with the Chilis. The Chilis are Ant, Flea, Chad and John,
But One Hot Minute Is Ant, Flea, Chad and Dave and I love One Hot Minute, more so than I love the Chilis, horrifyingly.

Ya this album was realy cool, and i like what Dave brought to the band. My favorite songs were Aeroplane, Trancending and Walkabout. They are awsome. A funky song played with Dave is Love Rollercoaster, and sadly that one is not on the ablum because i think it was recorden after for the beavis and buthead soundtrack. That was a good song and i also think there is a single with it. Nice review Ganondorf and great Cd, worth listning too!

Trancending is a tribute to the actor River Pheonix, a friend of the band

I agree with your review i think while being a very different cd for the chili peppers it is still great and i especially love shallow be thy game and aeroplane

I am a huge RHCP fan, ever since I first heard BSSM. Personally, I think One Hot Minute is an amazing album, not their best, but very good anyway. You have to listen to it more than once. One Hot Minute is a really cool song as well along with all the rest.

Transcending is a cool song. I think it was based around the death of River Phoenix or someone like that.

To answer your questions, I think My Friends has been performed by them live - and possibly Aeroplane.

RHCP is a very interesting band. Very hard to classify. Rock + Funk + Alt. Rock and some say they have ska + punk elements.

When I first bought this album about 6 months ago and listened to it, I didn't even get through it all. For some reason I hated it.
And like last week I saw it sitting there and decided to give it a play. As soon as warped kicked off it just blew me away! I especially like One Big Mob and Walkabout. The breakdown in one big mob is just beautiful music. The other songs are also good. I think Nevarro brang a bit more solid rock to the album, and it blended nicely.

Definatly one of the chilis best funk rock albums. This is my favourite chilis album after BSSM. Nice review too.

Fantastic album. Onem of the few albums that makes me smile when I listen to it, because I discover a new guitar part every time I ehar it (even tho i can play all them now, I had to buy the tab book, brilliant)

okay, everybody agrees that it's not one of the classic rhcp album, it doesnt sound like rhcp, coz it's a rock album . i ve always been prejudging this album, and wasnt listening to it ( except my friends and aeroplane ). but when you listen to it, you like it thought it's not the typical rhcp sound. sounds like they did this because they want to test themselves on rock music.

so, i advise you all do not prejudge this album, it s a good rock album from a different band. ( and it makes us understand, how can a guitarist can change all the typical things of a band )

and to the people who compares JF and DN, dont do this. they are just racing on different pists. one is a funk god, other is a good rock guitarist. the only thing we all agree and know that JF is a pepper , and Dave is not.

there are some great stuff on this album, aeroplane, coffe shop, my friends, pea, transcending and some funky songs like walkabout and falling into grace. i wish they didnt even make the 2. part of transcending. it s going very well till 03.03 and then all spirit of the song goes.

anyway, i think my ideas are the summary of most of the rhcp fans.

keep on listening the peppers, love..

Dave Navarro is the BEST rock guitarrist I've ever heard, simlply based on this album, the guitar here is unsurpassed
But I agree if you want to ehar the Chili Peppers, Blood Sugar Sex Magik is their best, and one of THE best albums of all time
I only prefer One Hot Minute by the tiniest margin.
Warped is the most incredible song I've ever heard, every time I hear it it blows me away

Rating: 3.5/5

This Album is obviously not their greatest compared to the masterpieces that are BSSM and Californication but I do feel Dave Navarro did make this album worth buying for his different guitar styling- Led Zeppelin Rock and Psycadelic slurring. This has very much got a Jane's Addiction feel to it which I find appealing and it has great songs such as Shallow be thy Game and Warped.

PS BSSM is so much better than Nevermind by Nirvana, Nevermind is sooo overated

This is such a bad review, I will probably do this again at some point as I feel this album is underrated as it is and should get more love.
