This album would get a 4.0, if it weren't for Antebellum ;) Melodically this album was instructive, progressive stuff for classical musicians who really cared about metalcore in that era, imo it had classical song structure and feeling. If AJ Minette didn't go on to play tracks from this album in class, I'm sure a few others did lol

The vocals were kind of shaky though, even for the time, and a slight remaster with a better vocalist would have even modern-day Sputnik horned the fuck up, for good reason.

A better vocalist for sure would make this more enjoyable as by far he's the biggest problem for me listening to this. Although, instrumentally while decent, it doesn't exactly draw me in all that much either. Surprised seeing this bumped 13 years later lol

Cheers to the various states of musical retrograde we might be in! For me, occasionally I just can't get away from "Antebellum".... And yes a top tier vocalist would really make that an unbelievable experience imo
