This reads like a 3, to be honest. It's a pretty solid review, not that I agree with it. I'm pretty much in love with the sounds and unifying concepts on this record.

Radiohead can divide its fans up into two bases. People who loved The Bends, OK Computer, and their more acoustic/rock sound, and then people who love their diversion into pseudo intellectual experimental nonsense. I have seen quite a few 5's and quite a few 2's. I have never loved them or hated them, but I see them continuing down the road to the point where they are recording birds chirping and selling it as music. As with all their albums, starting at Kid A, there are moments where they DO sound brilliant, create music that is tasteful and powerful. However, I find most of this album tedious, waiting for those moments of brilliance, only to grow too tired to bother to keep listening to music that is sonically void of any redeeming feature.

the thing with this record is that its not sonically void of any redeeming feature, but of the tricks we expect from them. what's left are intricate compositions whose stellar quality is in its subtlety. its like a record of those songs you like on radiohead records after you spend two weeks obsessing over "Pyramid Song" and find out that every song is actually that good, in its own way

well said. i found that thom's vocal melodies took some time to grow on me for sure (especially bloom and magpie). but after they settled i wondered how i ever doubted them in the first place.

Bloom is the latest proof of how groundbreaking they can be. At first I just hated that music, now I can't believe I could hate it. A brilliant opening track. I usually do not believe in this genre of "grow on me music", sounds more like a bad religion, but with most radiohead albums this description turned very acceptable.
The only track I know I will always hate is Feral. (99% shure)

Bloom is easily the best off of here.

My friend loves Lotus Flower. I don't see as much appeal in those two songs, they don't have enough to really keep me interested. Bloom progresses so well and has a great flow to it.
But that's just me.

I think "Give Up the Ghost" is the only song on here that I really love.
