it's awesome, i think the structuring lets it down a bit, ends a bit too soft, but the content itself is really fucking cool and honestly it's really addicting



overshadows the new agalloch for me

I'm really excited to hear Melting Sun. Have any previews of the album been posted? What is it about the new Agalloch that let you down Noctus? I haven't heard any of it yet.

Isn't that one of your main complaints with like all of Herbst's stuff? Seems he still needs to work

on that. And I agree on the soft ending. Golden Mind doesn't seem to have much of a climax to make

it a good outro track. Those vocal melodies are great, though.

Thanks for the link noctus! Im looking forward to hearing the rest of the album. This sounds promising. As far as agalloch goes, sorry to hear it disappointed you. Hope it grows on you. I'm going to check it out, but I'm trying not to get my hopes up. Is it still somewhat atmospheric? The concept seems less "foresty" so I was wondering if they would drop that part of their sound.

it's less foresty and 'atmospheric' is a bit of a difficult descriptor so i don't know, it seems more geared towards the songwriting and playing than to the atmosphere but i just don't think the songwriting and structuring does many of the compositions justice

Yeah sorry. I suppose "atmospheric" gets tossed around a little too often. I sort of used it for lack of a better term.
I get what you mean about songwriting and structure. That can make a definite difference.

Melting Suns is awesome. They pretty much swapped black metal with post metal.

as much as I hate neige Lantlos just isn't the same without him. The new one is fun instrumentally (altho far inferior to this) but the clean vocals are real fuckin bad
