oh my bad I must have misread it, i never meant Irving should eat up my compliment and develop some sense of false internent entitlement
but I agree, users like Xeno, Irving, mallen, ties, fghtffdemons or w/e are great for sputnik...there are more of them than we probably give the site credit for though
|
| |
I don't really have much time for Sputnik so I really only read staff, occasional contributor and Irving reviews. I'm certain there's a lot of user reviewer talent but I can't be bothered to scour around for it. I just know that when I click on an Irving review, I'm guaranteed a good read.
Also that Tyraelxy guy is pretty good.
|
| |
Yeah Tyrael always flies under the radar, his stuff reminds me a little of Xeno's.
I try to read user reviews but I can't keep up either. I usually only find out about a new reviewer if its for an album I want to read a review on. There are probably only 5-7 reviewers outside of the staff that I would read based on their name alone

It's not much =P

This is the girl that sang with Damien Rice, right?

Wow, um, gee...thanks for all the kind words Sowing and Waior. I'm kinda blushing now hahaha. I will
add that I concur with you guys on the lack of scouring time though - back in the day I used to dick
around User reviews; try to help them out and all. There's just not enough time for that now, and I've
been reduced to simply reading Staff and Contributor reviews.

Yessir, she appeared on both O and 9. Check her out =)

I for one will be sure to read couple of your latest reviews Irving. For now, I'm right into another ProgJect one.
Les affaires sont les affaires, n'est-ce pas.
|

Oh, this is that girl? I always liked her singing on Rice's stuff so I'll add this to my list of things to listen to
Will probably get to it around 2013

Hahah yeah it's her (which you probably would have figured out had you read the review PROPERLY XP). I actually haven't heard her on Rice's stuff so I can't use them to help evaluate her solo efforts. That being said, I stumbled across a rather angry Pitchfork review of O and it appears to have just about completely removed my appetite to go Damien Rice discography hunting lolol.
Besides, Chan likes it so it probably sucks.

I like it too
So yeah it definitely sucks

Cheers Ving, my good man.

K you know what I just read Tyler Fisher and Chan's pieces on it and I'm convinced. I'll get around to it.
In 2013 ;)

Great review! Congrats on the feature!

I had to ask for it...which kinda takes the gloss off the achievement a little hahaha.

Damien Rice needs to release a new one

"Very nice read Ving! Never pizza pos'd a review so hard."
That just sounds filthy PM.

Well I am quite sad to see this review. I was very excited for this album because I was very pleasantly surprised by Sea Sew, and really hoped this album wouldn't lose that character that made her debut so appealing to me....Sadly it appears that my fears were not unfounded. It seems like Irving liked Sea Sew for many of the same reasons I did, and am sad to see that he gave it such a mediocre review, because it seems likely I will agree.
Well, this will still get a listen at the very least.

As much as I don't want to agree with this review (I've been a fan of anything Rice/Lisa for years) I must say that I almost entirely do. Definitely prefer her debut over this and was somewhat disappointed after my first listen through.
I personally feel the album has a good amount of momentum up until What'll I Do, then it's just really mediocre at best. Passenger and Little Bird are the only two on the latter half that I enjoyed.
Solid review. Pretty much made me sign up for sputnik after several years of feeding off of the recommendations from you guys.
