Have you heard this one yet?
Not yet man, my comp is rather slow these days. I'm currently in a good clean-up to make some room to some new stuff. Textures is next.

Does anybody noticed the extreme similitude between the beginning of Sanguine Draws the Oath and the beginning of Goliath by Karnivool? Oh well...
edit; I'm digging the album so far. I'm half the way.

There's a reason I put the Karnivool LP in the recommended albums section. Also, "Singularity" has a very similar riff to "Set Fire To The Hive."

Yeah at the beginning you're right. At the end, it sounds pretty much like ''Cote''.
It doesn't seem to shock me that much, really. Listening to Minor Earth atm.

You're right about "Cote" comparison. "Set Fire To The Hive" riffing also comes back at the end of the track.
The melodic parts will grow on you like crazy.

I'm not worried about it dude. 2 left to listen and I'm sold. I'm gonna give it 2 spins in a row to be as objective as I can get. Best Textures album, I can already say that.

Alright. So let's talk about the evident similarities between the last track on here and Left/Right Hemisphere out of the debut CiLiCe album. ;)

Damn right! I frigging like both I can tell you! I'm pleasantly surprised about my feelings about Dualism...after all the negative criticisms around it.

I'm surprised or even shocked some people aren't convinced by Daniel De Jongh's vocals. Seriously this guy's at least 10 times better than your average progressive/math metal singer (incl. their previous one).

Yeah he's very technical, clean or not clean. Powerful razor-like scream vocals haha. He's the man. Superior to Kalsbeek finally, and it says a lot.

Exactly. He beats him with his versatility. Probably my favorite vocal performance of the year.
Also, is there any way to get this rev featured?

Versatile is the word, yes. As for the feature, go to the meds thread. I can't, it shows ''closed'' to me. I think they don't like ol'French speaker like me. Try yourself to see;

Daniel's a fantastic singer, no doubt. That's exactly what makes it such a shame that he's emulating Eric's style and patterns so very often. I don't know if this is a band decision or if it's at his own volition but it's undeniably there. I'm hoping he comes more into his own on the next record because he can do so much more with his voice than he shows on Dualism. For me, he often sounds out of place, forced; that's what makes the album so hard for me to listen to and enjoy.

Hmm. I'm of a completely different opinion. I think he shows his own vocal style here (in addition to some obviously Textures-styled vocal parts). The album sometimes even sounds startingly similar to the CiLiCe debut, e.g. the last track. I don't think he sounds forced on this album at all. I may agree that the dynamics feel slightly forced at times though.

K, I start with a 4. Best Textures album by a mile. Fav songs are... (I just compared yours to mine, Greg, in the few past minutes)...it can change though with each new listens;
Reaching Home
Consonant Hemisphere
Sketches from a Motionless Statue (you merged it with foreclosure as I see)
These are my 5/5. I have couple others that could join my 5's rank in time.

Good picks! Reaching Home is good, just a tad too repetitive to my taste. Consonant Hemisphere and the last two tracks own face!

just as the review said, aint so satisfied with the less technical direction, but nonetheless a fantastic album.
