This is meant to be more of a prog rock than an alt rock album but okay

I would not consider it prog rock. They actually flirt with it here or there with their use of strings, horns and mellotron and all, but their structures are rather straightforward. I'd call this experimental alternative. Or Art rock, possibly. Pretty hard to label, really.

Yeah you're probably right... Anyways, I think I'll make a 'Big in Belgium' list one of these days to showcase that we do make some pretty good music

Good idea, buddy. Sput needs moar dEUS. Have you ever heard some Therapy? At some point similar to dEUS, in more heavy.

Bands that are similar (IMO):

Captain Beefheart

The Velvet Underground

Tom Waits

early Radiohead

some Sonic Youth

This is really hard to describe.

Also, mind = blown for the small time period this has become popular around Sputnik (somewhat) :D

Captain Beefheart, really? I perso detect more Frank Zappa, if anything.

It's safe to say that they sound like a more lighter version of Therapy (alternative, grunge, alternative metal, post-punk).

Well, Barman (the singer) always says how Beefheart is one of his primary influences ;)

I forgot about Zappa, will check out Therapy, never heard of them...

So it's indeed Therapy? with the ?...

Checked out a few songs, cool band! But I don't really see the comparison with dEUS, they sound way too straightforward.

Edit; Straightforward? mmmm, depends. Just like dEUS; Not all the time. And what songs did you hear?

It is a little front heavy IMO. It petered out for me there at the end. I need to give it another listen.

Listened to bits of this and Ideal Crash and I definitely prefer this. I'm not really into Alt Rock so I guess it's not really surprising I prefer this as it's the proggier/more experimental album.

I absolutely fail to see the prog elements in this...

I love the concept of this album, it actually feels as music being played in a film noir decor.

The band isn't as progressive as I had hoped. Still good though.

Art Rock is the word, to me. Or maybe Experimental Alternative.
