"Reading youtube comments is what makes people go on shooting sprees, eno. Be careful. "
yeah that's a slippery slope eno, look out.
I definitely get the hate for this band but whatever I love love love them. Sorry Hep and Deviant, I hope we can still be bffs.

most of the haters here are the muscle flexin' pork obsessed so I'm not really impressed

i'm just saying that youtube is all over that. and so are all the people who i meet at shows, kids who like emo music are into it, kids who like hardcore. there's definitely a group who hates them, they just happen to be mad outspoken, hence why it seems big.

I've never had a problem with the vocals. I always feel like I have to defend them when I make other people listen to the record though.

guest, considering how into the lyrics you seem to be i recently found out that while the album is centered around this characters crumbling marriage, it contains a lot of allusions/connections to a famous ancient chinese folk tale. i know the tale pretty well now and some of the lyrics acctually do relate to it. look it up man, its pretty interesting.

after a few months of occasional listens I've decided I love this...
interestingly enough, it's because of the awesome music and not so much the lyrics (though they are definately above par)

famous ancient chinese folk tale.
This is true, but anyone who's paid attention to the Here, Hear tapes will know this already. I actually posted a huge breakdown of the lyrics in one of the other threads but that was months ago and I can't be arsed with hunting it down.
Basically, Vega and Altair are actually stars, and the "river"... nevermind, I'll just link to it.

That's only one version, though, and very different from some of the others I've heard and read. They all have the same basic plot, though. "Said The King To The River" is solely about this story, and the version in the song is closer to the version I hear most often but I can't find it right now. Then of course Fall Down, Never Get Back Up Again is basically Annabel Lee in song form.
Oh, and why do people only like the first song? It's easily one of the worst tracks on this (but still good)
