Couldn't agree more with this great review. Sadly, this album was disappointing in so, so many ways, although the title track was titillating (Ratzinger obviously spent a great deal of time composing this track, and it showed.)
I also thought 'Patient A' was interesting and unsettling. The song was very remindful of an archaic hospital environment and contained a high whine sound throughout the refrain that I found bizarre and uncanny. Through the many 'doctor' commentaries the track conveys the awful impression of a concentration camp test subject.
Also notable was Kikeriki, which reminded me of a Clive Barker short story entitled 'Dread' in which a torture victim becomes a brain injured stalker. The gibbering voice at the beginning is quite grotesque, and when combined with the shrieking female vocals at the end proves very effective.
I impulsively bought the disc upon seeing on the shelf at X-ray Records (as I often do with bands I have thoroughly enjoyed in the past.) Ultimately though I cannot help but feel I should have downloaded it first for analysis before laying down the money. It was an okay disc for the reasons noted above, but many of the songs were dull and uninspired. And please, what was with the cover design and artwork? I almost didn't buy the album for this reason alone. Rudy needed to give me a call and I would have helped the poor guy out with some truly disturbing artwork.
Last point: Ratzinger should never, ever use the song title 'Zombibikini' on one of his albums. Instant fail.
