I hear you. That's the paradox with individual perspective. You want everyone to see exactly what you see, while at the same time staying a unique vision... it's impossible.

Indeed, it's all subjective and down to personal preference, especially when it comes to the emotion that music evokes.

I agree with both of you. It's always relative to how one can connect to the music of an artist. Of course SRV has emotion on his music. The t/t of this album is a good example. Overall though, Santana has a variety of songs that hit me on a personal level every time.

If you haven't already listened to them I would suggest the following: Hope You're Feeling Better, Song Of The Wind, Batuka, Europa, Samba pa ti, Soul Sacrifice, Chill Out, No One to Depend On and Trouble among others.

I think his debut is slightly better.

SRV's version of Voodoo Child is amazing. I prefer Texas Flood too, however.

It's a shame he died so soon.

Cool review! I'm listening to this right now for the first time and started with the Hendrix cover "Little Wing." Oh my lord Stevie's guitar playing on this song is out of this world, beyond comprehension! How he gets that MONSTER tone from a Fender strat is one of the most beautiful guitar tones I've ever heard right next to Hendix's amazing strat tone. I can't give this guy enough props, I didn't think anyone could ever come close to how great the guitar can sound like Hendrix did but SRV has proved me wrong and is right up there. I am now a complete Fender Strat convert and that has to be the next guitar I purchase. I just have to decide whether to get a white on white with maple fretboard (like Hendrix), or a tobacco sunburst with rosewood fretboard (like SRV). Ironically both are my favorite color/types of strats so neither would disappoint.
