Auldy, you need to realise people are going to have different opinions to you. They are entitled to say they think Wolfmother are overrated. Get over it. Theres no need to respond each time a negative comment is made.

When I read about these blokes I thought they were another ridiculous "70's good, other decades bad" band.
But I listened to them and yeah, they truly are more than that. They deserve their fame.

I liked this album to start off with but over time i have come to the conclusion that it really lacks replay vaule. But a solid debut never the less.

Woman = a Led Zeppelin song sung by (young) Ozzy Osbourne.
Incredibly, incredibly derivative, even compared to the likes of Jet.
Apart from that, they're alright, it's certainly a good debut album, but the sheer amount of hype and bullshit doing the rounds about them is really annoying.
There's better homegrown Aussie rock than this IMO.

yea, like ACDC.

I heard of this band once, but I still haven't listened to them. Maybe I should...

good stoner rock

Other Good Aussie Rock Bands: Blueline Medic, After The Fall, Magic Dirt, Something For Kate, The Living End, In The Grey, Cog, Irrelevant, Grinspoon, Powderfinger...
Know why Wolfmother isn't in there? None of those bands are as derivative or unoriginal as them. Once the dust settles and Wolfmother's sophomore album is due, it's going to become apparent that they just recycle old ideas with a slight veneer of freshness. I've already got Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath albums, so why should I buy Wolfmother's?
Wolfmother and Jet should just tour together and give each other some hot lovin'.
And yeah, I missed plenty of good bands up the top there. Apologies, but it's late.

pattern_recognition I'm assuming you're Australian because of your knowledge of Aussie bands. Have you heard Love Like...Electrocution?
|
| |
Hmm, my Aussie roots are showing. And I didn't even mention any shrimp or barbies, or the throwing of one upon the other lol
But anyway...
Yep, i've heard of 'em. I've got an EP by them somewhere, I think, but the only songs I remember offf the top of my head are With Horses In Her Eyes She Spat Like A Wildcat, and We Only Fuck To Black Sabbath Vol. 4.
Good stuff though, tight and melodic while still being spazzy and insane. I may also have seen them live back in the day, but I can't remember who they were opening for, and, well, I was a bit in the bag at the time.
Good times.

^ No. pattern_recognition said that a couple of posts above, and most people around here have managed to realise it for themselves.

'it's could (sic) to hear a band from australia'
...?
We do have plenty of bands down here mate, you know?
|
| |
not very good ones.
only ones i can really say are awesome are Alchemist and The Butterfly Effect.
as for Wolfmother, id say theyre a bit overated but theyre a good band none the less
the frontmans fro is getting out of control by the way! its huge!
|
| |
If you think those are the only two good aussie bands, then...well, what can I say? 'You're wrong' doesn't do justice to the sheer enormity of your mistake.
Alchemist are sweet though. Peace.
