so basically, you use bad grammar but you do so under a literary/artistic license?

haha yeah. Have a look at the convo in my Frank Turner thread between me and Dave to see the depth of my pretension. And cheers, man.

lol i don't need to read that

already pos'd

Just because you take Radiohead so seriously (and many fans do) doesn't mean they take themselves so seriously.

Thom has said time and time again they're nothing more than a pop band

no matter what SIR THOM says, the evidence points to the contrary...

Yeah it's just funny you mentioned it so vividly in your review --the points about Thom being humorless and about the music being difficult-- because, while I assume you don't have too much respect for Miles's opinions, but he definitely knows his Radiohead... and we were having a conversation about how seriously people take Radiohead sometimes, when Thom has talked about how he makes pop music (not "popular," but pop in the sense that it's accessible, easy to listen to, other traits of regular pop music, etc.) and has cited his sense of humor in his work, stuff like that... so I thought it was worth pointing out.

Then again, I'm not the expert on this, but I'm sure couldwinarabbit will stop by later and add on to what I said.

I hope you have the courtesy to look them in the eye when you do it, Brandon.

One thing I will say is that if Thom didn't have a humor, then the Lotus Flower video would not exist. I don't care what the Radiohead fanboys say, that video was created as a massive joke.

I wholeheartedly disagree. Radiohead are molding electronica (in its most minimalist form) into their own creation.

Still, it's a good, solid review.

Then again . . . while your second paragraph is filled with specifics and very neat ways of describing the feel and sound of this album, the rest sort of feels like a research paper.

I still POS though

Not sure about the minimalist thing - seems pretty busy to me. And without Yorke's voice I wouldn't be able to tell who'd made this.

i think of radiohead's/yorke's self-image as extremely similar to reznor's

the difference is that reznor has talent

Well, yeah, I think that's why Yorke's one of the most important parts of the band. He inherently IS Radiohead. It's a trademark touch.

And really? Busy? Hmm...I mean I guess the drum machines SOUND busy, but it's still just that: a drum machine.

they both have talent

of course, trent reznor could be classified as a god

so it's unfair to lump yorke into that classification

i mean, he may win an oscar for an album with a song called cocksucker on it

only reznor can do that

I'm very sad that I won't be able to write a review for this album on sputnik (at least I think I am).

I listen to a lot of really minimalist stuff, so this sounds almost plush, but I see what you mean. His voice being a trademark of the band is all good, but they need to step apart from the crowd if they're gonna produce anything worth a damn. Every element of this is snatched from other groups.
