Was just listening to the new Quicksand now and paused it to hear it, felt really thin and poor in comparison but will give it a shot regardless.

Remember the name of this band from back in the day, must have heard a few songs playing at school, never investigated them.
Listening now and this sounds alright, whoever said a Southern sounding Metallica...well that.

This is fairly different from the southern rock stoner they do now Doof. I would suggest Wiseblood too although I like more this album and what they were doing here.

I’ll try and check all three next week, there’s something good here

You know maybe it's about time I listen to this band
|

Yeah, starting with this one will be kind of misleading, since they changed their sound after this one.

It’s been a while. Sounding damn heavy compared to the albums after it.

Deliverance features some really heavy stuff when it gets down to it ("Broken Man" for instance) and in its own way brings the riffs as well. I'd say nowadays for me this and Deliverance are tied for best CoC. I like In the Arms of God as well and used to think it was close to being the band's greatest achievement, but quite a few of the songs grew off on me bit. And Wiseblood is hit or miss for me.
Blind and Deliverance riff the hardest and still make go apeshit.

Deliverance has always been top but Blind’s dirtier sound hitting the spot just now. The 2 are close and plenty of great rawk off the next 3 albums.

Reed Mullin had a great influence on me with this album when I started playing. Hard RIP.

Probably his best drum work here.
Hard RIP [2]

this is one of the most unique, important and overall best metal albums of the first half of the 90s. Beyond that, the dudes in COC are some of the coolest MFers I've ever met. Only met Woody and Mike briefly, but got a chance to hang with both Pepper and Reed for hours on multiple occasions and they were simultaneously the ultimate rock stars as well as down to earth dudes. RIP Reed m/
