Only listened to "Symbols and Processes" and "Asymmetry" but I don't hear any Insomnium in this at all tbh :/

Well, that's your loss ;)

No, I might be way off base. I've only had the chance to listen to it at a low volume at work.

I can wait.

I can't imagine them trying to do anything different than they've ever done... the same thing for the upcoming Amon Amarth album.

I'd say Amon Amarth suffers from stagnation more than Insomnium does. I'm a huge fan of what Insomnium have been doing so more of the same is ok with me (although they will probably be universally panned by reviewers, especially here if they do). They have said on their blog "Familiar Insomnium traits are there of course but there is also something we haven’t done before." so we'll see.

dropped the insomnium name because of the feeling i get when i hear that album, as well as the others mentioned. Sure, this is still a typical album in the subgenre, but it doesn't have a thick layer of generic trash on it like a lot of melodeath imo -- see: Universum

Steadily drifting away from melo death because of all the shit every new band plays. There's absolutely nothing original left in this genre tbh.

Alright. I listened to this on a good stereo and am totally underwhelmed. Lame.

Album's cool but there's no way I would've expected to like this if I were you Trey (basing my opinion on the assumption that you read the review).

After hearing them this past saturday I can safely say these guys put on a kick ass show. They had fantastic energy and they sounded as good as they do on record.

mhm, also, the ticket cost basically as much as a beer there so that was a total win for me.

lol seems so.

I really like this record alot because of its energy. I'm definitely excited with what these guys can come up with in the future. They've got a lot of potential, that's for sure.
