@outline: i love the older decemberists records. in fact they are my favorite. i truly believe that
the songwriting is stale and that the production takes what little life this album has and compresses
it out. the intro is there to basically say that without going off into the weird, colin meloy has no
ideas worth listening to anymore, not that im pissed that this doesnt have any progressive elements.
how about you accept that people can not like an album that you like without there trying to be some
ulterior motive behind it.

I've never seen an album get such mixed opinions from staff and contributing reviewers and from people rating it.



But I will listen to this album, because I don't know how the Decemberists can make a bad album.



Production only kills an album if you can't even hear the note played(some brutal death and black metal I don't remember) or is too loud(Death Magnetic), or is boring(when it comes to rap).



And red, yeah you can dislike an album, but on sputnik it is impossible to not get critics about it when there is a lot of people that really loves the band..
