I know sputnik likes mammoth reviews, but the average professional one will only be two/three paragraphs. Oh and the cultural identity thing is relegated to the first quarter of the first paragraph, and it defends MCR.

"oooo big surprise negative review of MCR album spends half it's length talking about the band's cultural identity and the other half not really saying anything about the music."

That's some pretty good evidence right there, Acad.

Just one thing though Phlebas: be careful what you call glam rock. Gary Glitter is actually glitter-rock (totally different genre) and glam rock would be something like Poison, Cinderella, Warrant, 80s KISS, etc...

I like the lenght actually, and it does describe the music to some extent. I know the group is playing uninspired pop-punk with needless electronic additions and nods at glitter/glam rock.

Kind of like present-day Good Charlotte meets Blessed By A Broken Heart, then, no?

Even though there's really only one paragraph to this and I disagree, it was nice and concise. Pos.

Not far off, RTR, yeah. I see what you mean about the glam rock thing.

Also, CB - I write all my reviews for everyone, including those who've never heard MCR, Susan Boyle etc. The first paragraph is context, the second is detail.
